Contracted To Morrisons Supermarkets (Head Office)

Employed by Xerox, but working on the Morrisons Supermarkets contract as a Graphic Designer within the on-site print facility at their Head Office. Main responsibilities and accountabilities included:• Designing and artworking external and internal communications, staff magazines, training manuals, shelf and table barkers, posters and store signage. • Adhering to and working creatively within strict brand guidelines.• Variable data design and management.• Creating and setting up editable forms and documents for internal use.• Working alongside other internal teams to produce and develop the best creative solution for the problem. • Key point of contact within the in-house team for discussing creative needs and issues. • Prepress and setting up print jobs, plus proofing and feeding back before large digital print runs. • Liaising with external companies and suppliers.• When I had the chance I also had the opportunity to operate large commercial digital printers and different types of finishing equipment, allowing me to gain a greater knowledge of the entire process, from creation to end product.

This was my first full time creative role fresh out of university, and where I gained a real interest in commercial graphic design and the print process which follows it. Print Digital was a small family run business but due to it’s large customer offerings gave me a fantastic opportunity to learn a broad range of skills.Main responsibilities and accountabilities included:• Designing and artworking all manor of print media from adverts in newspapers and publications to business stationery packs and logos • Consulting with customers and discussing their creative needs• Liaising with external companies and suppliers• Prepress and setting up print jobs• Operating large commercial printers and learning the process behind it.
