Working as a consultant to some of the major players in the Utilities industry. Pre-contract and post-contract work in the Water, Electricity and Gas sectors.

I was responsible for a turnover of £75 million per annum rising to £100 million per annum in 2002, the majority of which was in Framework Agreements with Water, Gas and Electricity Companies.I was employed by Morgan Est - Utilities Division (previously Pipeline Constructors Group) since 1991. After joining them as a Project Quantity Surveyor I was promoted to Senior Quantity Surveyor in 1993, then Regional Commercial Manager in 1996 and to Group Commercial Manager in 2000. I was in charge of a Commercial Team of 20 staff, and responsible for an annual turnover of £100 million. I had 4 Regional Managing Surveyors who each had 5 staff reporting to them.Reporting to the Commercial Director, until December 2001, when Pipeline Constructors Group were purchased by Morgan Sindall and since then to the Operations Director of Morgan Est – Utilities Division.Responsible for –- the accurate valuation of work to strict monthly timetables and for the reporting of same in Cost/Value Reconciliation Reports and Subcontract Accrual Reports. - reviewing tender/bid documentation and advising on contractual issues- pursuing prompt certification from clients for monthly valuations and final accounts- resolving disputes with clients and subcontractors- recruiting, training and developing the Commercial Team- overseeing the procurement of subcontractors to a value of £30 million per annum- advising on property leases and rental agreements for regional offices- member of Utilities Board, identifying and planning for business risks and linking head office activities to site requirements- member of Morgan Est I.T Steering Group- member of Morgan Est Best Practice Group- guiding auditors through the company management accounts- providing feedback to the Estimating Dept on “as built” situations for future bids- preparing, developing and reviewing commercial procedures to ISO 9002
