Development Manager, SQL Server Query ProcessorLed the 20 person development team responsible for building the SQL Query Processor in SQL Server 6.5, 7.0, 2000, and 2005. Working on architecture, design, and implementation of the new SQL Server relational query-processing engine from SQL Server 6.5 through SQL Server 2000. Primary specialty focus on query optimization engine, providing key design input and core feature implementation. Designed and implemented an update and constraint processing system, which improves the bulk update (insert/update/delete) query performance. Also learned other key product areas, which allowed for the implementation of larger and more challenging features. Debugged and enhanced legacy SQL Server 6.5 (Hydra) code-base.

Contributed to the architecture, design, and implementation of the JET database engine versions 2.0, 2.5, 3.0, and 3.5, the database query engine, which ships as part of Access, and other Microsoft products. For versions 2.0 and 2.5, I was the primary owner of the RJET/ODBC remote query layer. Implemented support for downstream IBM AS/400 and DB/2 clients. For version 3.0, was solely responsible for the query processor and as such owned the release. Enhanced data type and VBA expression service support.
