As Head of IT Support I am a member of the senior management team for Information Systems and Technology, provides IT services to the whole of the University IT ]. I am responsible for the delivery and development of three of the nine top level IT services:• Staff Desktop IT –providing and supports all desktop IT equipment to the University, email, printing, photocopying, file store, collaboration services such as SharePoint and Audio Visual service in meeting rooms.• Teaching and Learning IT Support –the provision of all student PCs, including those specialist PC rooms formerly managed by the faculties e.g. Game Labs; student email, printing; photocopying; file store; the fixed Audio Visual equipment used in all of the 400+ teaching rooms and all portable AV equipment loan to students or used in teaching. • Research IT Support. This services provides support for all IT activities undertaken by the University. This includes supporting the IT associated with specialist laboratory equipment in biomedical science, and MERI; providing technical input into research bids, support for Higher Performance Computing Clusters; data storage for research data including secure storage for sensitive research data.As well as being responsible for these services I manage an IT Support team of 44 staff who provide second line IT support and first and second line AV support to the University. I act as a key faculty contact for the faculty of Development and Society, Human Resources; Research and Innovation Centre; and Directorate of International Development.

s Head of IT and Media Services I was a member of the senior management team of IS&T and was responsible for the delivery of a range of services to the University including second line IT Support for 1200 staff in central departments, supporting and managing the University’s centrally provided Student PC Labs; the University’s Audio Visual Services; The University’s managed desktop; Web and VLE support and the1st line IT Helpdesk service.

As the IT and Learning Support (ITLS) Manager at Sheffield Hallam University I was the senior University manager responsible for: providing second line IT Support for staff in central departments, supporting and managing the University’s centrally provided Student PC, and the University’s Audio Visual Services.

As the Frontline Support Coordinator for IT Support, I had a dual role as the project manager of major University IT projects and as a coordinator who developed and supported the work of the CiCS Frontline Support Team. In this latter role I led a review of the Helpdesk and support services.

The Cistercians in Yorkshire was a major £425,000 lottery funded project to use Information Technology to disseminate historical scholarship about the Cistercian abbeys in Yorkshire to the general public. The project produced an interactive web based learning package (http://cistercians.shef.ac.uk) about the history and architecture of five Cistercian abbeys in Yorkshire.
