About Nia Mckanders

Nia McKanders is a character, prop, visual development artist, and illustrator based out of Detroit MI. She graduated with honors from the College for Creative Studies illustration program with a minor in animation in the Fall of 2023. She is currently looking for work in the animation industry and strives to create work that empowers and inspires young Black minds in media. Through college, she has had the opportunity to work with companies such as Gravity Sketch, The Detroit Zoo, private children's books, Lightbox Expo, and others in the future. With most of her time spent drawing compelling character designs that depict an accurate representation of Black culture, she also provides for her community as a voice to other young Black artists who have the same drive for creativity.
