I advise clients on patent, design and branding strategies, to help them protect their products and expand their businesses within the UK and Europe, and worldwide. I also specialise in resolving (and importantly avoiding) disputes over IP rights. I work with clients ranging from solo inventors and technology start-ups, to universities, FTSE 100 companies and multinational corporations. My clients are involved in a wide range of technologies, from beauty accessories, garments and handbags, to Fintech and blockchain applications, power grid technologies, machine learning and all manner of AI. I have an academic background in computer science including a PhD in machine learning, which I put to good use getting to grips with complex software inventions.I regularly advise on active disputes over IP, and have a strong track record of defending retailers, manufacturers and importers. I have led teams successfully asserting rights, and defending against threats from IP rights holders, in conflicts involving registered rights such as patents and registered designs, and also unregistered rights such as unregistered design rights, copyright and passing off claims.
