Working as a contractor or employee.In recent years I have been focusing on regulatory change analysis and implementation in the area of securities custody, clearing and settlement and regulatory developments in the Financial Services industry. I am experienced in acting as senior legal adviser to senior management committees and the Board and I managed the in house legal team for Pershing EMEA business. I have strong crisis management capabilities and a collaborative approach to working with my risk management and compliance colleagues as well as experience in advising entities regulated (directly or indirectly) in multiple jurisdictions and operating multiple lines of business through such entities. I work closely with the business' client relationship teams to provide timely advice and response to client queries and complaints and to ensure the Legal Team is seen as part of the business.In particular I note the following highlights:* Acting as lead EMEA lawyer at BNYM for QFC Resolution Stay Rules – led discussion with US Regulators (FED, FDIC, OCC) for exemption for Custody and Depositary contracts for non-US entities which avoided the need to amend all client contracts and potential regulatory clash between EU and US as well as putting US banks at commercial disadvantage. * Successfully lobbied LSE to amend its rules which required a General Clearing Member to be a separate legal entity from the trading business, thus allowing Pershing to reduce the number of regulated entities in the UK from 2 to 1 and rationalise its corporate group structure in EMEA. * Representing BNY Mellon in industry groups and response to regulatory consultations with or via such industry groups – AFME Post Trade (various sub-committees) and Association of Global Custodians (regulatory affairs) to ensure BNY Mellon voice is heard in regulatory responses and contributing to an effective response by these industry groups to relevant consultations or issues.* Led the efforts on achieving Dutch licence for the Pershing EMEA equities trading desk post Brexit protecting the relationship with Pershing’s biggest Dutch client and opening the door to adding on other large Dutch clients. Similarly advised in house on achieving post Brexit license in Luxembourg.
