Charged with the online research of whale and human interactions. Research data was entered into Google Docs and edited to highlight relevant information. Source data downloaded as pdf files and associated links were stored in Dropbox (a file hosting service). All research material was made available to the Ocean Alliance team to further understand how human activity in the oceans can negatively affect marine life. Participated in a field expedition to Stellwagen Bank, a national marine sanctuary located between Boston and Rockport, MA. Identification and observation of two individual humpback whales. The research team utilized drones (“Snotbots”) equipped with FLIR technology to record internal temperatures while hovering over surfacing whales. Petri dishes attached to the drones allowed for the collection of “snot” during exhalation. “Snot” matter is analyzed to determine the current health of the individual. All information is recorded historically.
