Senior Director, Clinical Partnerships & Strategy
Associate Director, Employers Centers Of Excellence Network (Ecen)
As Associate Director, I led the development and implementation of the Employers Centers of Excellence Network (ECEN). The Pacific Business Group on Health (PBGH) established the ECEN as part of its ongoing engagement partnerships and pilots that pay for value, improving the quality and efficiency of care while also containing costs. By working collectively, PBGH supports employers in their efforts to accelerate the timing and increase the impact of national improvement efforts by sending a unified signal to the marketplace (plans and providers) about expectations for patient engagement, appropriate care and quality. The ECEN is a multi-employer travel surgery program that provides access to high quality care at a predictable bundled rate.Major Accomplishments:• Directed a team of legal, clinical, analytics and care management experts to maintain and grow the ECEN through expansion to new conditions and geographies. Served as program lead for center assessment and selection.• Managed collaboration and quality improvement efforts for joint replacement, spine care and bariatric surgery and oncology centers. • Identified and disseminated quality metrics and process improvement recommendations to influence the healthcare market.• Oversaw recruiting, expansion and marketing efforts. Conducted customized informational sessions with >75 employers across the U.S. and regularly presented at national meetings and conferences.• Served as content expert for media and academic publications and authored several articles about the ECEN program and employer-led value based purchasing initiatives.

NUTORC currently connects more than 30 medical, engineering, business school faculty members with transplant clinician investigators.Working in a cross-functional research team, as the Research Project Manager, I support the NUTORC Director in operational and strategic planning and organizational oversight for a portfolio of 39 grant funded projects with a total of $11.2 awarded.Major Accomplishments:• Developed, implemented, and maintained an original, web-based debriefing risk assessment tool. Over 800 safety debriefings of transplant surgical procedures are undergoing qualitative and statistical analysis with the goal of identifying high risk areas and strategies for process improvement. Preliminary results and pilot data were leveraged to secure five million dollars in federal funding to expand the project to three additional transplant centers.• Led a ten month series of risk assessments using Failure Modes Effectiveness Analysis (FMEA), PDCA, and Lean Continuous Improvement principles to review and kidney and liver transplantation processes, including identification of safety risks and causes in order to reduce delays, minimize waste, and improve clinician communication.• Designed orientation curriculum, trained and directed six assistants and 24 medical and undergraduate student interns; mentored junior coordinators.• Advised junior faculty, medical, pre-, and post-doctoral students in establishing relationships, designing proposals, drafting and submitting funding applications (e.g., T32, F36, KL2), navigating federal (NIH, NSF) and university policies (IRB, OSR), and conducting research at multiple sites.• Co-authored 38 grant proposals, eight manuscripts, and more than 90 presentations for national conferences. Research Project Coordinator
IHS serves as a central organization for health services and outcomes research by coordinating, originating, and promoting, inter-disciplinary, multi-departmental research and education for the purpose of improving safety, quality, equity, effectiveness and policy of healthcare. As a Research Project Coordinator, I oversaw coordination of four projects of escalating scope and scale and a combined budget of two million dollars focused on improving clinician teamwork and communication at six Chicago Pediatric Patient Safety Consortium hospital sites.
