Background in microbiology and immunology of infectious disease.//Olivia Iannone has served in the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy since 2020 as a policy advisor for Cooperative Threat Reduction (CTR). Currently, she is responsible for providing strategic guidance to the DoD CTR Program for biological threat reduction activities, and for coordinating closely with DoD components, the U.S. Government interagency, and international partners and experts on matters pertaining to international biodefense, biosecurity, biosafety, and global health security. Previously, she was responsible for supporting the Program's congressional and public affairs, strategic communications, and legal frameworks.Olivia holds a Masters of Science from Georgetown University in Biohazardous Threat Agents and Emerging Infectious Disease. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelors of Science in Microbiology and chemistry minor as well as with a Bachelors of Arts in French (Honors) and Global Studies (Global Health) certificate.
