I am currently working in a CPA Office. This professional setting includes getting in contact with clients to prepare their tax returns. The entities I work with are specialized clients which include Individuals, S-Corporations, and C-Corporations. That being said, I still have experience in the following entities. They include Exempt Organizations, gift tax returns, Business Personal Property returns, and Trusts. As stated previously these are not the type of clients our firm works with so exposure to these entities is limited. My previous experience with QuickBooks Desktop (Pro and Accountant versions) as well as QuickBooks Online has been put to the test. I am looking to get certified in QuickBooks as well as attain my CPA license. I am confident I will be able to attain this goal with my firm.

Due to this I was able to work with clients books on a daily basis.Apart from this I experienced situations where I would write notice letters, practice client management/client retention, and meet with clients. With this firm I worked through one tax season in 2022 which would be four tax season in total. With this firm I was able to experience a high stress environment. This included managing other individuals as well as being able to teach them. I also had the chance to experience something new. This included reviewing returns and working with payroll processes.

I would do year-end journal entries such as depreciation, asset disposal/asset purchases, accounts receivable/payable, and any other entries that needed to be made. Apart from this I gained experience in writing notice letters, client management, meetings with my team, and learning about the new tax code. I worked through three tax season during my time here. During my time, I was able to learn how to work in a high stress environment which gave me the opportunity to learn copious amounts of information in a short amount of time.

I learned how to create bids on major projects that the company would bid on. I would receive a faux blueprint of a potential job that would include railings, stairs, specialty wood details, etc. I would then look for pricing within the company or from third party companies for said jobs and price them out to include a final number to use when it came time to bid. Due to my accounting background I was able to gauge the potential impact it would have on the company in terms of the amount of time it would take to create the job (build cabinets, construct railings, woodwork) and the amount of man hours it would take to finish the job. All of this was performed by creating/receiving emails and relaying that information to a project manager. I would attend daily team meetings to ascertain the value of certain project we wanted to win as well as get up to speed on the ones we would currently be working on.
