Senior Biometric Analyst working in the development of the shared Biometric Matching Service and its integration in the Core Business Systems managed by eu-LISA (EES, VIS, SIS, ECRIS-TCN and Eurodac)

Biometric analyst in eu-LISA, focused on fingerprint and face recognition in large scale systems

(2015-2016) Private Identity as a Service (PIDaaS). The PIDaaS project (funded by EU CIP) intends to develop a cloud service for identity assurance of users' identities based on voice and face biometric modalities. PIDaaS will add biometric template protection schemes (BTPS) to ensure user's privacy. Within PIDaaS, the University of Kent is in charge of the usability evaluation to ensure a usable-by-design implementation.(2014-2015) Within the SuperIdentity project, the research has been focus on the computer-based evaluation of biometric indicators of identity and their relationship with demographic and personality traits. The project aimed to find these relationships between multidimensional elements of identity using statistical models and machine learning techniques. From the biometric raw data (fingerprint, face, voice, signature, hand, keystroke, iris samples), the research was focus on feature extraction, feature selection and classifier evaluations (SVM, NN, Naïve Bayes, Logistic, decision trees) in order to predict other identities cues (demographic and personality traits). The research was developed using machine learning frameworks such as Matlab, R, Python, WEKA and SPSS.

As part of the Callsign Data Science team, I’ve been involved in the design and development of a new range of innovative services for providing frictionless identity authentication as a service. This includes the development of algorithms based on device fingerprinting, location behaviour and behavioural biometrics.My role at Callsign includes the following duties: - Team leader for the research and development of biometric algorithms based on machine learning and deep learning technologies (keystroke, mouse, swipe and PIN dynamics); - Developer of a flexible evaluation framework to ensure the algorithms are evaluated thoroughly following the guidelines provided by ISO/IEC JTC1 SC 37; - Biometric expert for the design and validation of the new data engineering on-cloud platform where the biometric algorithms will be deployed; - Link with academia, contribution to the definition and writing of national and international research proposals and co-supervising an industrial PhD at the University of Kent. Collaboration in the generation of the successful PriMa proposal (H2020-MSCA-ITN-2019, €3.8M)Furthermore, at Callsign, I have continued my involvement in the development of BSI/ISO standards, holding the following positions: - Working Group 2 Chairman at BSI IST/044 Biometrics - UK Principal expert at international ISO/IEC JTC1 SC37 Biometrics meetings. - Panel member for the development of BS8626 Code of practice for online identity management systems.

• Responsible for R&D Projects dealing with biometrics: o Development of a Multi-modality (fingerprint, voice & Signature) Biometric Identity Cloud Service, based on international standards (ISO/IEC 30106 BioAPI Object Oriented C#, ISO/IEC 30108 Biometric Identity Assurance Service (BIAS), ISO/IEC 19794-1,2,4,7,13 Biometric data interchange formats) and API Rest. o National R&D Project for the enhancement of a Voice Biometric Authentication Service (SecuVoice Project) o Signature Solution based on biometric signals assuring legal electronic evidence for non-repudiation. o Management Responsibilities (SCRUM Methodology) of the development group.
