I am the director of a multi-site college-in-prison program at an Ivy League university. I represent our program on and off campus, raise money, and develop new programs by working with professors, grad students and undergraduates. Our program offers >30 courses per semester between four prisons; incarcerated students who are accepted to the program receive college courses offered by Cornell University and several partner institutions. Students can earn an Associates degree in Liberal Arts through SUNY, and select students are eligible for a Certificate in Liberal Arts from Cornell University. I also teach one course each year on the intersection of education and justice. My current research looks at the same.

I taught part-time for the Department of Educational Policy, Organization, and Leadership in the College of Education. I was also on the Board of the Education Justice Project, the University of Illinois program for incarcerated undergraduates, which is part of the department.

I taught a suite of college courses in an adult correctional center. The subject was Horticulture with emphases on practical skills, economics, and sustainability. Students could complete all of my courses over an 8-month period while earning 30 college credits at the 100- and 200-level. The coursework involved classroom activities, individualized projects, and hands-on applications in the greenhouse and the on-site one-acre botanical garden that was initiated during the class.

I served in various capacities with the Education Justice Project, a unit of the University of Illinois, including grant-writing, recruitment, organizing a conference, sitting on the advisory board, helping with hiring and teaching college classes at an adult correctional center.

Duties included student recruitment and admissions, fundraising, webmaster, payroll decisions, legal/financial reporting, teaching.

Founded a non-profit for promoting local sustainable design while in college, and spent several years running several programs through it.
