Oscar Yeung Email and Phone Number
I am a recent graduate Master of Science student at the University of Buffalo for Dr. Gang Wu's lab. At Dr. Wu's lab, my work is in the synthesis of high activity Fe-N-C single atom catalysts for Oxygen Reduction Reaction (ORR) for Fuel Cell applications. My Master's Thesis is based on this work. In my time there I was able to optimize the synthesis and usage of Iron Zinc Oxide nanoparticles in Zeolitic Imidazolate framework (ZIFs) for the production of high performance Fe-N-C catalysts. I was also able to explore different methods to improve the stability of the catalyst using Chemical Vapor Deposition to obtain the best balance between initial performance and long term stability. Through this opportunity I gained a lot of experience in experimental design and effective use of data to guide direction or project. During my two years as a Master of Science student, I also was able to gather industry experiences through my two internships at Lornamead and ARMOR IIMAK. At Lornamead, I worked as an Engineering Intern helping identify and fill gaps in validation paper work at the Quality Assurance Laboratory. I wrote and executed Installation/Operational/Performance Qualification for several lab equipment. I also wrote new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and updated previous ones to improve the process of data collection and data entry. In particular, the TOC Liquid Sampler and Solid Sampler was validated with extensive testing and calculations using detailed validated spreadsheets to assure that the data is both accurate and reproducible. I also wrote the SOP of the use of this equipment and trained Technicians on daily use of this equipment. At ARMOR IIMAK, I worked as an R&D Intern working to facilitate the development of a combination of inks that provides the best opacity and best stability for Direct to Film garments. I printed shirts, measured the color quality through LAB data and print density and the stability through crockfastness tests and washfastness. All the data is then compiled and organized into a single spreadsheet to allow R&D team to easily access and understand the data to guide direction.
