I advise QED's investment team and portfolio companies on regulatory, risk, and compliance matters. From January 2023 through January 2024, I also served as an Executive in Residence, providing portfolio companies with fractional compliance leadership, strategic advice, and assistance with implementing new compliance and risk processes.

I led legal and then also enterprise risk and regulatory relations for a state-chartered trust company with direct access to the U.S. payments system through a Federal Reserve master account.

I served as principal assistant to the Chief Executive Officer, and a member of the senior leadership team, of a community development bank whose mission is to broaden access to capital and responsible financial services for historically underserved communities in New York City. Based in Harlem, Carver has assets of $740 million, deposits of $600 million, an annual operating budget of $26 million, and 140 employees. Primarily through local lending, the bank reinvests more than 80 percent of its deposit base back into underserved communities. Carver is for-profit, publicly traded on the Nasdaq Stock Market, and federally chartered.My primary responsibilities included strategic and business planning, special projects leadership (including new products and community outreach), federal and private grants applications, policy analysis and engagement, board reporting, and managing CEO communications.

I assisted clients with corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and risk management, with a focus on clients regulated by the Securities and Exchange Commission. I also led the development and administration of the Empowerment Awards, a Promontory program that recognizes innovations in community development finance.

Reporting to the committee's deputy chief counsel, I supported development of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform Act of 2010. My key focus areas included credit rating agencies, private pools of capital, investor protection, and executive compensation. I conducted legal research, analyzed legislative proposals, drafted committee reports and memorandums, and supported staff work on hearings and mark-up sessions.

I worked in the firm's business and finance group. I also volunteered with MFY Legal Services, providing pro bono legal aid to low-income New Yorkers, with emphasis on debt collection relief.
