As part of the creative team at Marketecture I was responsible for developing concepts and design communication materials, both online and offline, for a diverse range of projects and clients.

OurDave is the pseudonym of David Armstrong. I spent a year freelancing at agencies across the north west including: 90 Degrees, Bert Agency, Creative Spark, Hemisphere, Studio North, The Foundry, This Creative, USP Creative and Waggledance. I also worked independently for a few of my own clients.

During my time at 1977 Design I gained a massive amount of experience working across a large variety of design disciplines. Projects range from identity, branding and design for print to design for media, museums and large format.

I worked at Philosophy Design for a relatively short period of time but it was a steep learning curve as this was my first London based full-time design job. The projects I worked on here gave me a good springboard up to 1977 Design.

Among other projects, I designed and developed an identity and typeface for a London based photographer.

I designed and developed a series of pictograms that were based on a bespoke typeface designed by Dalton Maag.

Who was to know that this placement would eventually land me a job. I was offered a permanent job at 1977 Design as a direct result of my placement.

This was my first design placement in London. After almost two months of emailing my portfolio to design studios I decided to knock on Still Waters' door and they agreed to see my portfolio on the day.

I started work for Marketecture soon after graduating. I remember thinking that it was great that I was getting paid to design. However, London was calling and I moved on to further my design career.
