My first job in Danmark doesn't feel like a job at all. I'm a volunteer at a daycare centre for mentally disabled people. It's outside of my comfort zone so that's good. It's been the most rewarding job I had in a while.

Netherlands

For more than ten years I've been a freelance reporter and photographer for VPRO 3voor12. I'm mainly flown in during festivals like Amsterdam Dance Event, Awakenings and Lowlands, when there is a need for a specialist in dance music and club culture. Covid slowed this all down for the past two years though.

For the monthly Dutch music magazine (and website) Oor I write album reviews, do interviews and publish the occasional report on concerts or festivals. The focus in all this is on dance music.

Chainge is a fast growing Danish start up that wants to change last mile logistics with electrical cargo bikes. These bikes can hold up to 250 kg of cargo and reach large parts of Copenhagen and surroundings. I am part of a young and international team of cyclists and do some photography for Chainge as well.

I've been writing for DJBroadcast since the very beginning, while it was still a bi-monthly magazine until it folded in the summer of 2020. I did interviews for them, as well as in depth reviews of festivals and concerts, album reviews and in long reads that required more research.

Because I wanted to learn Danish as quickly as possible, I decided to become a volunteer at WeFood. Becauste it brought me in direct contact with customers and colleagues and forced me to speak the language as much as I can. I liked it a lot but corona and a new fatherhood pushed me out eventually. Had a great time there though!

I'm on Dutch national radio hundreds of times a year, yet not many people realise they hear my voice every day. Which is nice. I am the guy who tells you where and why you are stuck in traffic during rush hours. Apart from that I write traffic related copy for the website ANWB.nl, publish a monthly newsletter about mobility and do interviews for both printed media, television and radio.

Den Haag

I ended this wonderful job because I decided to migrate to Denmark, where my girlfriend is currently working.

I mainly wrote music reports and film reviews for Partyscene.nl.

Bassic Groove was the very first Dutch language magazine about dance music, which we called house music and techno back then. I learned so much while writing for them. Did all there was when it comes to publish a montly music magazine. Interviews, back ground articles, reviews. You name it. I was also responsible for the section of new talents, which involved supplying them with 4 or six interviews each issue. I coached new, talented journalists for this.

Activities and Societies: Learning a new language is fun. I went to school twice a week and learned Danish in little over a year.
