I helped improve and increase the public image of Avaya's Government Operations by crafting and reviewing the most compelling messaging with the executives for external audiences. I managed all aspects of PR and communication strategies, planning, management and execution. I served in this function across all lines of business at different times.I spearheaded the PR aspect of a campaign to directly target primary competitor via marketing, media outreach and advertising, which drove a 46 percent increase in sales pipeline. Earned media delivered advertising equivalent of more than $800,000. The campaign was awarded a Gold Effie, the highest industry award for results-producing marketing campaigns.Nortel was a recognized leader in developing next-generation technologies, for both service provider and enterprise networks. Nortel's technologies were designed to enable enhanced business productivity and eliminate barriers to efficiency, speed and performance by simplifying networks with industry-leading solutions. Nortel did business in more than 150 countries around the world.

I conducted media and analyst relations for this high-tech start-up.Alteon WebSystems was a start-up that revolutionized how information is shared over the Internet and provided the technology foundation that enabled streaming media on diverse networks. The company developed technologies to speed Internet traffic in enterprise environments by more than 10 times by streamlining how traffic is categorized, prioritized and inspected for content and threats. The company sold for $7.8 billion in 2000.

I created, enacted and delivered company messaging to all news outlets regarding the successes of Lockheed Martin's Commercial Space Systems. I collaborated with the company president, senior executives and sales teams to support sales efforts with tailored communications. I also worked with executives to develop speeches and presentations for many diverse applicationsFrom systems engineering to integration to orbit of today’s most capable satellites for commercial and government customers, Lockheed Martin is the world’s most experienced spacecraft producer.

I covered national security, information technologies used for communications, intelligence, surveillance, as well as information warfare. I often served as a subject matter expert, providing to analysis to C-SPAN, London News Radio and the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association. Also, I was nominated for the Gerald R. Ford Award for excellence in National Security Reporting. Gannett Government Media Corp. is a multimedia news and information company that produces newspapers, magazines, web sites, and other publications. GGMC publishes newspapers for U.S. Military personnel, the defense industry, civil government, federal policy makers, procurement officials and allies, via Defense News and Federal Times.

I wrote, edited and assigned reporters for a newsletter that covered policies and programs related to technology transfer from military to commercial sector.

I covered international affairs for a Japanese audience, including U.S. defense policy and foreign policy.

I served as liaison to other senators and staff to confirm support of legislation to determine whether it would be included in the legislative calendar for a floor vote.I also coordinated communications among the office of the Assistant Majority Leader (Whip), the senator’s personal office and state offices.
