Focus on Safety and Virtualization

• Own test suites for several kernel and hypervisor features, ensuring they fulfill the needs of several internal stakeholders such as the development, safety, and test organizations.• Coordinate with internal stakeholders on safety, test, and development teams to prototype a process for developers to trace requirements and design documents stored in SVN to source code and test cases stored in JAMA.• Champion CI/CD practices by prototyping a sanity-test pipeline with parallel instances of virtual hardware, improving test suite runtime performance by a factor of 10x.• Interview, manage, and mentor 15+ co-op students on test and automation tasks in remote and in-person work environments.• Coordinate weeklong training sessions on C, POSIX, QNX, Safety, and Testing Mindset for 20+ new students and full-time hires every semester. Capture, analyze, and integrate feedback from participants with a survey.

• Develop tests, documentation, and automation to enable ISO 26262 ASIL-D certification of QNX Neutrino RTOS and QNX Hypervisor.• Develop device drivers for serial communication device (UART) and hardware timers (HPET, LAPIC) using the device specification to enable more thorough testing of the QNX Kernel and Hypervisor.• Interface with members of the product development team to assess, improve, and execute the safety test specification for QNX Hypervisor for Safety 2.2.• Present requirement verification process to external auditors during 3 successful ISO 26262 ASIL-D audits of QNX RTOS and QNX Hypervisor.• Own the code coverage reporting process and provide coaching to others handling the equivalent task in other releases.• Coordinate with external supplier to assess the value of an instruction-accurate virtualizer in the context of simulating the OS responding to non-cooperative hardware.• Automate the data capture and analysis of kernel timing behavior and auto-generate plots that make it easy to determine if system behaves as expected when hardware is not cooperating with OS.

• Developed unit tests for ASIL-D/ISO-26262 safety-certification of QNX Neutrino RTOS and QNX Hypervisor 2.0 for Safety.• Improved efficiency of code coverage infrastructure for regression tests.• Designed, implemented, and maintained an automated server to perform daily test runs and analyze/share the results.• Analyzed market/safety requirements and traced them to the source code that fulfills them.• Worked in a collaborative environment with extensive mentoring and opportunities to train, assist, and learn from new students.

• Developed scripts to automate the creation of test specification documents from comments in the test source code.• Analyzed and documented OS regression tests to add to test specification documents for QNX SDP7 Release. • Modified regression test infrastructure to support new features such as custom timeouts and pre/post-test scripts.• Developed tools to facilitate generation of regression test lists and presented it to the teams that would be using it.
