The B. Tech EV is a full scale electric vehicle whose purpose is to be a learning platform for Bachelor of Technology Students in the Automotive and Vehicle Engineering Technology and Automation Engineering streams at McMaster University. Built on a Lotus 7 frame, the all electric drivetrain works together with an actively suspended chassis and is powered by a 48V power supply.My role on the Electronics and Controls Team includes- MATLAB and SIMULINK models of systems such as braking systems, traction, inverter cooling and battery cooling- Electrical Routing in Siemens NX- Mechanical CAD for Brake pedal assembly (mechanical OR gate for autonomous braking) and wiring harness components- SME AC-M1 inverter programming, speed mode, torque mode, regenerative braking, drive set programming -Battery Thermal Management System (BTMS) design: electronics architecture, Simulink modeling of PI system, and Arduino programming-BTMS mechanical CAD for battery enclosure, mounting to frame, and HVAC- Completed Vehicle component FMEA and systems design PFMEA-Mechanical CAD and manufacturing of polycarbonate battery enclosure-PCB design for BTMS control board

- Fixture design for production tooling- Programming a Jenoptik TO3 for optical shaft metrology; for part dimension verification after key machining processes to check for out of spec parts or determining gauge accuracy- Collecting and formatting gauge data for Gage R&R-Solved tooling-related production issues- Assisting the management team in reviewing and updating control plans, failure mode effect and analysis (PFMEA/FMEA), as well as assuring process steps are cross-referenced and countermeasures are effective. My duties as a Mechanical Engineer involved:• Used engineering solutions to solve safety, equipment functionality, and process flow issues in the plant • Designed various fixtures, machine parts, safety equipment, and plant material handling equipment using AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor, in addition to issuing the work orders in MP2 CMMS Software• Worked alongside both contracted and unionized skilled trade workers to complete fabrication and installation of the designed solutions• Designed various plant and laboratory floor maps for both the CGT Cambridge plant and upcoming CGT Texas plant • Collected and analyzing data on the plant's energy usage to implement improvement and CGT cogeneration projects for power production as a member of the CGT Energy Conservation Team• Performed air leak investigations on various air-operated plant equipment• Appointed Project Manager for high expenditure engineering projects aimed at downtime reduction

My role on the McMaster University EcoCAR3 team involved:• Mechanical design (using Siemens NX 9.0, and NX Teamcenter): Mounting brackets for vehicle radiator, heat exchanger orientation (A/C condenser, intercooler, and radiator), and E85 engine research• Team collaboration, working with other mechanical team members as well as electrical team members to ensure that no designed parts conflict in geometric and thermal parameters
