Planning and coordinating acquisition of the following types of airborne geospatial data (and associated sensors): • Topographic Lidar (Leica ALS 50, 60, 70, 80; Optech Orion C200 and H300)• Bathymetric Lidar (Riegl VQ-820G)• Hyperspectral imagery (Headwall Photonics VNIR+SWIR)• Multispectral imagery (Microsoft Ultracam Eagle and Falcon)• HD Video (Cineflex Elite)Performing QAQC and processing raw sensor data as well as associated GPS/INS data with: • POSPac • Leica Cloud Pro• Optech LMS Manager• Microstation• LAStoolsPerforming analysis on processed data using: • ArcGIS/QGIS• Google Earth Pro• ENVI• QT Modeler
  • Quantum Spatial
Remote Sensing Technician - Airborne Sensor Operator
    Quantum Spatial Dec 2012 - May 2014
    Portland, Or
Working with a field team that included a pilot and ground surveyor, I performed aerial remote sensing surveys across the U.S., Honduras, and Guatemala. I operated the following systems from either a fixed-wing or rotary platform:• Leica ALS 50, 60, 70, 80 (NIR LiDAR)• Optech Orion C200 and H300 (NIR LiDAR)• RIEGL VQ-820-G (green, bathymetric LiDAR)• Cineflex Elite (HD video)• CASI 1500H VNIR hyperspectral camera• Headwall Photonics VNIR+SWIR hyperspectral camerasAfter each data acquisition flight I was responsible for initial data QC using software which included Google Earth, Microstation, LAStools, ArcGIS. For some projects I was responsible for incorporating ground control by setting up Trimble GPS base stations and/or collecting real time kinematic (RTK) survey data.
  • Portland State University
    Lecturer - Department Of Geography
Portland State University Sep 2015 - Dec 2015
I co-taught Remote Sensing and Image Analysis. The course included lectures, labs, and a field trip to Mount St. Helens
  • Oregon State University
    Graduate Research Assistant
Oregon State University Sep 2010 - Dec 2012
    Corvallis, Oregon Area
I used remotely-sensed data (Landsat, ASTER, IKONOS, MODIS, aerial photos) to map glacier change in the Canadian Rockies, Peruvian Andes, Bolivian Andes, and Tibetan plateau. I used programs like ENVI, ArcGIS, Google Earth, R, and Matlab to perform various analyses. The resulting glacier outlines were used to check the performance of a coupled Glacier-hydrologic model (DHSVM). I collected field and remotely-sensed data required to run the model for a watershed in the Cordillera Blanca of Peru. The model was calibrated from 1988 to 1997 and validated from 1998 to 2007. I concluded that the model is not yet suitable to be used in this region due to unconstrained uncertainty as a result of limited data availability.
  • Us Forest Service
    Hydrogeologist Intern
Us Forest Service Jun 2010 - Sep 2010
    Fraser, Co
I worked with the U.S. Forest Service in remote areas of the Fraser Experimental Forest (CO) mapping, characterizing, and sampling springs, wetlands, and soils. The work required hiking off trail in steep terrain and/or dense vegetation. Water samples were collected at each spring point of emergence. Soil cores (up to 2m long) were collected from wetlands. Soils were characterized in the field using textural analysis and a Munsell color chart.
  • The Ohio State University
    Undergraduate Research Assistant
The Ohio State University Dec 2008 - Jun 2010
    Columbus, Ohio
I worked with others at Byrd Polar Research Center and used satellite imagery (Landsat and ASTER) to calculate area changes of the Quelccaya Ice Cap and Qori Kalis Glacier (Peru). For my undergraduate honors thesis I traveled to the Cordillera Blanca in Peru and collected water samples for major ions, nutrients, and isotopes from a glacierized basin to characterize water quality. I also used these data to determine contributions of glacier meltwater and groundwater to dry season streamflow
  • Ohio Department Of Natural Resources, Division Of Geological Survey
    Intern
Ohio Department Of Natural Resources, Division Of Geological Survey 2008 - 2009
    Columbus, Ohio Area
I performed QA/QC for production well logs used for characterizing potential carbon sequestration sites. I also mapped permit locations using ArcGIS.
  • Brown And Bills Building Group
    Construction Worker
Brown And Bills Building Group 2006 - 2007
