Work cross-functionally with other departments to manage Emergent’s and its CMO’s raw materials for the Lansing site from receipt to release. Review, risk assess and stability assess, any updates to materials or their suppliers, implementing necessary changes through the quality notification system to ensure successful receipt and release of material for use in manufacturing operations as well as laboratory use. Maintain communications and track performance of the QC departments and contract labs on status of raw material testing to ensure timely receipt of results. Schedule and review all sampling events to maintain efficient and compliant turnaround times. Provide support to the QC testing lab through review and performance of raw material testing, review and performance of corrective and cycle driven work orders, and monthly log review. Collaborate with continuous improvement personnel on ways to improve current systems and possibilities for future systems. Provide responses to audits as a subject matter expert in the sites material management and control strategies as well as raw material and water testing assays.

In charge of teaching 10 students in a Survey to Analytical Chemistry laboratory. Emphasis of my teaching was on using analytical techniques in terms of massing, pipetting, titrating, and solution preparation. Other focuses of mine were ensuring the safety of the students, proper notebook skills and formatting, along with using critical thinking and problem solving as it relates to analytical work.

Designed an in-home GC-MS method for the detection and monitoring of BTEX and PAH compounds, common in crude oil. A separate research focus was put towards the anion content in the GVSU stormwater runoff wetlands project. For this we utilized an ISCO autosampler to collect a baseline and trigger after rain events that were at least 0.1in/hr. After samples were collected they were filtered, preserved and analyzed via pH, conductivity, turbidity all in a timely manner to ensure the least amount of degradation and variance from their environmental conditions. Samples were then tested for phosphate and orthophosphate by a co-researcher utilizing a colorimetric spectroscopy. I was tasked with using and creating an SOP for our chemistry departments new IC running Chromeleon 7 to analyze the common anions: Fluoride, Chloride, Bromide Nitrite, Sulfate, Phosphate, and most importantly Nitrate levels in our samples.
