Patrick Doran is an associate in the Litigation Section of the firm’s Philadelphia office. Patrick's primary practice is commercial litigation, but he also does extensive work defending lender liability claims and prosecuting creditors' rights matters. Patrick practices in the state and federal courts of Pennsylvania and New Jersey, and has worked on matters in state and federal courts across the country. Particular areas of interest and expertise include defense of legal claims arising under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (“TCPA”), Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (“FDCPA”), as well as the PA and NJ consumer protection statutes, trademark and patent disputes, contracts disputes, FTC Holder Rule liability for secured creditors, insurance and reinsurance, and creditors’ rights. He has experience working with expert witnesses, discovery practice, pleadings and dispositive and discovery motions practice. In addition to his experience researching and drafting a wide variety of discovery and dispositive motion in various state and federal courts, Patrick has prepared firm opinions for clients and has successfully argued matters in multiple orphans courts of the Commonwealth on behalf of clients seeking legal guardianships. Prior to joining Buchanan, Patrick spent seven years as a professional actor in the Greater Philadelphia area, performing with some of Philadelphia's most prestigious theatre companies. Patrick's legal internships included prosecuting cases for the Philadelphia District Attorney’s office, coordinating legal services for the Philadelphia Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts, and evaluating claims for the compliance division of the Philadelphia Commission on Human Relations.
