Designed and built pilot operations to guide business unit direction for operations, defined capital strategy for engineering projects and conducted preliminary engineering for continuous manufacturing of paint coatings system for plant in India.

Direct Management of Professionals responsible for operational performance of the direct manufacturing process at PPG Cleveland, a $600MM facility, with supply chain demand across North America, South America, Europe and Asia. The team includes a diverse group of engineers and chemists. Accomplishments:Successful design and integration of reduced North American manufacturing footprint. Executed a highly accelerated project plan (8 months) that provided $10MM annualized savings to the business unit.Integrated 30% increase in product complexity with no substandard product throughout the transition.Developed alternate project scope that enabled $1MM reduction in capital cost and significant reduction in risk; executed the scope change (in Operations) after approval.Changed the scope and functionality of the Production Engineering Team, resulting in an extremely LEAN and flexible entitySuccessful design and integration of sourcing strategy that reduced North American manufacturing costs by $1MM and working capital by $200K. Worked with PPG Associates in Mexico to resolve significant quality issue, defined the root cause, short term and long term countermeasures and provided direct report to impacted customer, mitigating a $200K claim in the process.Wrote working mathematical model as precursor to software package designed to save $500K in working capital for European Business Operations. Lead process engineer for design team charged with designing a new facility that would replace all existing operations at PPG Cleveland. Responsible for translating manufacturing business drivers into functional process improvement at PPG Cleveland. Primary methods involved focused Kaizen events, Design Team Participation and targeted capital projects. Accomplishments:Lead process engineer for a facility wide redesign, responsible for process mapping, simulation and financial impact analysis.Performed a series of pilot operations in an effort to define and mitigate high risk assumptions in the design basis for the new facility.Designed and implemented process control systems for a “new to industry” pilot dispense process that became an integral work cell with best in class financial performance.Wrote design basis documents for the new facility and acted as lead process engineering contact for detailed design engineers.Lead or participated in 20+ Kaizen events at PPG Cleveland, covering most of the functional work areas within the facility, reducing lead time by 75% across the facility.
