About Patrick Points
I have always enjoyed roles that require research, problem solving and optimizing work processes, always with a goal of increasing personal and organizational efficiency. In my current role at Ignite Philanthropy, I strive to increase the efficiency of all of our grants management processes, including application form design, grant analysis, custom reporting, and communications with applicant organizations. I view myself as a facilitator for my colleagues and an expert grants resource for our clients and the nonprofits seeking grants.Before joining Ignite, I worked first as an academic librarian and then as law librarian. Both positions honed an ability to balance and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously. I transitioned to IT work after developing an intranet at the law firm I was working for. Working in IT spurred my interest in making full and efficient use of the software we had available while sharpening my problem solving skills and understanding of IT systems and relationships. I also developed a personal philosophy favoring the use of existing tools and software in new ways over purchasing new software whenever new problems or needs arose. Outside of work, I am involved with Social Venture Partners, which combines the concepts of collaborative giving with engaged philanthropy. My work as an SVP partner piqued my interest in philanthropy, especially my interest in what I could do to make Greater Cincinnati a better place to live and work. My comfort with IT solutions, my drive to eliminate organizational waste and my strong sense of empathy lead to me my position as Director of Grants Management at Ignite. My current position sits at the junction between my personal interests and professional skills.
