About Patrick Dillon
I always thought I’d work at a steel mill. As a child, I spent many Sunday mornings at Northwestern Steel & Wire, walking through a mill with a hard hat and over-sized steel toed shoes on, driving around in '72 Blazer (which is now a classic), or reading the latest edition of Businessweek or Forbes in the main office. While I was a summer laborer in the mill for two summers - jackhammering slag, flipping and stacking mats, and getting dirtier than I have ever been - that book came to an end, opening all sorts of new opportunities. The ensuing thirty years have been a bit nomadic and somewhat prolific with stops in Evanston, IL, Chicago, Boston, Austin (child #1), Oak Park, IL (child #2), Sterling, IL (child #3), Gerrards Cross, UK (child #4), and finally, Ardsley, NY (holding steady at 4). With 4 kiddos has come a lot of time watching soccer and other sports from the sidelines and the development of my top skill, short order breakfast chef, with specialties including homemade waffles, pancakes, crepes, French toast, and pour over coffee (adults only). I am open most days.Beyond sports and breakfast, my hobbies include life/work hacking, doing the 7-Minute Workout, connecting people/companies with problems to experts with answers, and playing a LOT of pickleball. If you live in the Rivertowns, we play most Sunday mornings at a park near you. Ping me if you would like to join! For the rest of the story, let's connect!
Listed skills include Saas, Salesforce.Com, Strategy, Crm, and 19 others.

Patrick Dillon work experience
A career timeline built from the work history available for this profile.
Vice President, Financial Services
Current
Major Account Executive
I was looking for a sales oriented culture coupled with a product/capability that helped organizations achieve big outcomes. Anaplan was looking for an agile minded, driven consultant (Accenture, Deloitte, Kearney) who understood finance (MBA, Emerson, Convio), supply chain operations (NU IE, Kearney, Dell, living.com), sales and marketing (20+ years), HR.
Sr. Account Executive, Large Enterprise
I wanted to hop on a rocket ship, sell an amazing product, help companies unlock value from their teams, and enable org transformation. I took an AE role to get in the door, figuring it would only make me a better sales leader (which it has). While I thought I understood the value of Slack, it only took watching this video.
Vp Of Sales
Taking over the reins of the Grovo sales team and joining the ELT was incredible because of the people (smart + driven = you will find them on the top sales and tech teams in NYC today), the vision (helping people learn faster), and the opportunity to tune the machine (and to drop the 7AM Monday sales meeting). It was also a huge challenge for reasons we.
Senior Director Of Enterprise Sales
We chose NYC because it’s a great place to be a sales leader and, bear with me on the geography, it’s a bit of a midpoint between our family in Illinois and our friends in England. Grovo checked critical boxes: selling a solution that helps people be better at their work (#lifehacker); collaborating w/ a driven and inspirational founder and high.
Vp Sales - International (Emea And Apac)
When one of your best friends asks you to join a great sales leadership team and to run EMEA, the “Yes” comes quickly. With the help of several A-players in London and Sydney and benefitting from the skills gained at BV, we grew the team, had fun (Karaoke Rich), and set new standards of performance. I learned that sales management is all about.
Sales Director
Working with Cedric Pech and an amazing cast of ex-PTC sales leaders, I learned more in my first 6 months at BV than in any other period - PG day, NBMs, 1st meeting excellence, Value Pyramid, MEDDICC, 3 Whys, audible readiness, storytelling, and more. I didn't always appreciate helping the big guys get bigger (e.g., helping Halfords beat up independent.
Head Of Enterprise Sales (Strategic Accounts) - Emea
After competing against BB for 11 years (and telling them in year 1 that they could buy us for $1 billion - pinky in mouth when you say it), I was working for the 800 lb. gorilla, helping them embrace digital/online fundraising and competing against my favorite db (salesforce.com) with a non-SaaS product!!! Flexibility and resilience were a must. We sold.
Head Of Sales - Uk
Once we confirmed that we could bring Wheatley and Molly (lab, newfie), saying yes to becoming the sales leader for Convio UK was easy. Establishing our brand, converting customers from JustGiving, delivering the right products, learning the Queen's English, and hitting our goals were all challenges, but we augmented the team, closed a few deals (CRUK.
Strategic Account Executive
We had great success selling to local NPO chapters, leading to the creation of the strategic account team to pursue national, multi-chapter agreements. I took on 30 of the top 50 US NPOs (e.g., National MS, Komen, St. Judes, ACS, Alzheimer's Assoc) resulting in many $1m-$4m annual license agreements and 1000s of Convio-powered events. The big lesson here.
Senior Account Executive
Our first child was born and it seemed like a good time to move closer family. The Chicago/Midwest territory was open so, after doing account reviews and sales forecasts with great and not-so-great sales reps, I decided it was time to try my hand at sales. At the start, I had 2000 accounts in 13 states and I was the CEO of my territory - creating a.
Director Of Bd & Sales Operations
I wanted to learn about the industry and helping NPOs raise $ to support their mission felt great. The co-founders kept track of every dollar so Convio seemed like a safe place after the living.com experience. We had some luck signing up political campaigns (e.g., John Kerry) but partner BD was a tough go in the early days given our small customer base. I.
Director Of Business Development
Andrew Busey was persuasive - "we're closing an $x million round with Benchmark, our sofas will be in Starbucks,..." - and disrupting a massive segment seemed quite interesting to this lover of Herman Miller MC furniture. We hired top execs (AOL, Diageo, SAB, Duracell, etc.), worked 7 days/week, had a Super Bowl ad, spent millions on advertising (AOL.
Marketing Manager / Displays
I considered returning to Kearney, going into finance, or joining Emerson in corp dev, but I chose Dell because they were disrupting an industry and I wanted to learn how - and ATX is a great place to live. As the Optiplex CoE, we ingested content from product teams, delivered messaging and promotions to sales, set pricing, and ensured adequate supply to.
Mba Intern - Hermetic Motor Division
They had me at "29 straight quarters of EPS growth" as I wanted to learn how to do that. Maybe there was some financial engineering and clearly some strong FP&A, but Chuck Knight (CEO) was all about accountability - while chomping on his cigar during QBRs, he would tear important pages out of the deck and store them for the next QBR to ensure the team was.
Associate Consultant
ATK (now Kearney) was the consulting and post undergrad experience I imagined with high impact projects (new product development at GM, supply chain transformation, creating the valuation model for the EDS acquisition of Kearney), responsibility for important assets (global manufacturing database), heavy brain utilization, co-worker camaraderie during late.
Business Analyst
I agonized over the decision between banking/New York and consulting/Chicago and landed with Deloitte because consultants drive transformation and create more business value (I've realized the alternative argument). I learned a lot about several industries and made a few lifelong friends, but I was also the last analyst standing on a litigation project.
Summer Intern
After 9 months at IBM and with one co-op period to go, I joined Andersen Consulting. St. Charles was a blast, I met great people from throughout the Big 10, and I loved working in Chicago in the summer. I did my best to contribute to the coding (in BASIC) of a digitalization solution for a county Recorder of Deeds, but could not match the fast-typing.
Industrial Engineer (Coop Program)
Having some tenure led to ownership of more projects, including the redesign and installation of a small assembly line. It was during a management read-out that I first heard about tiny Dell Computers - I kick myself for not heading to ATX or at least buying a few shares! On a non-work front, I gained an appreciation for NC, in general, and enjoyed playing.
Industrial Engineer (Coop Program)
I wanted real work experience prior to graduating, so I joined the engineering co-op program and was lucky to land an opportunity with IBM in the Research Triangle Park area. I read the book THINK (still good advice) prior to starting and also loaded up on grey and navy suits, white shirts (heavy starch), striped ties, and Allen Edmonds wing tips. I helped.
Summer Laborer (And Sweeper)
This was my second summer in the mill. My primary role was to load coils to keep the galvanizer running and to keep the floors "clean". I preferred jackhammering and mat flipping, but I did learn that solving a problem at its root cause (the source of the dirt) results in less clean up down the line and that it's OK to drink a few gallons of Gatorade every.
Summer Laborer
As an 18-year-old, there was no better place than NSW to learn about hard work while making good cash working 56 hours/week. I jackhammered slag to clean and rebuild the 46" furnace (working with the experts - Lou and Chief), flipped and stacked mats, and, generally, kept my head down (while also keeping an eye out for speeding fork trucks). Highlight.
Lawn Mower, Bush Waterer, Painter
In an effort to purchase a Sony STR-VX 550 receiver (@ $3.35/hour), I kept newly planted bushes alive, mowed small fields with a push mower (thanks Dad!), and learned to paint doors, trim and walls without making a mess. The stereo has come and gone but I use these skills today - and I am trying to pass them on to the kids.
