Pat is a seasoned trial lawyer with a sophisticated and varied practice. He is licensed in both Ohio and Illinois and has substantial experience handling commercial/business, municipal, professional liability, construction, civil rights, insurance coverage, product liability, asbestos, motor vehicle/trucking, and premises liability litigation matters. Pat's practice also involves prosecuting class action cases and handling a multitude of legal issues facing public sector clients, including those relating to water and sewer service, public housing, eminent domain, contract disputes, and employment practices. Pat has also served as an Administrative Hearing Officer and acting City Attorney for various municipal clients. He has defended numerous municipalities, including the City of Chicago, and police officers against claims alleging use of excessive force, false arrest, unlawful searches, false imprisonment, malicious prosecution, and other civil rights violations. Pat also represents businesses and individuals in contractual disputes and related litigation. In addition, he defends lawyers, architects, engineers, accountants, real estate agents and brokers, and physicians against lawsuits alleging various causes of action, including those for malpractice, breach of contract, and breach of fiduciary duty. He also defends property owners, developers, and contractors in complex, multi-party lawsuits involving construction-related personal injury claims. Pat also assists clients in identifying and seizing the assets of judgment debtors, including foreign entities, through citation and judgment collection proceedings. Before moving back to Northeast Ohio where he grew up, Pat was a member of one of Chicago’s leading civil litigation law firms.
