Monitored compliance related regulatory and legal changes/trends and communicated significant information orally and/or in writing. Developed and/or upgraded internal controls and compliance mechanisms. Prepared and executed audit plans.

Provide legal advice and services regarding mental health and developmental disabilities, labor and employment, property acquisition and incorporation issues. Analyze issues related to the creation of an assisted living facility with the use of Low-Income Housing Tax Credits. Implement all aspects of HIPAA compliance including risk analysis, training of staff, writing policies. Provide consulting services to other agencies regarding HIPAA compliance. Review any and all corporate compliance issues. Create and/or review contracts the agency is considering entering into. Provide legal advice and services to Executive Director, Board of Directors, and Department Directors on any issues that may arise. Prepare motions for filing in civil cases. Provide guidance on when outside counsel should be hired and act as liaison with any outside counsel that has been retained. Responsible agency policy and procedures complying with federal, state and local statutes, ordinances, rules and regulations.

Member of insurance coverage and litigation departments. Issued opinion letters to insurance companies on coverage issues involving Commercial General Liability, Professional Liability, Pollution Liability Coverage, Business Automobile Liability and other types of insurance. Completed research projects for clients, partners and senior associates. Reviewed documents/evidence produced by opposing side in litigation for use in trial. Prepare motions for filing in civil cases. Conduct correspondence with clients as needed.

Researched legal questions and wrote memoranda for general practice law firm. Prepared complaints and motions for filing in civil cases for both plaintiff and defendant. Prepared outline for mediation for defense in personal injury claim. Filed appropriate documents with court for timely administration of estate files. Conducted correspondence with current clients as needed. Assisted in new client interviews.
