Responsible for overseeing all real estate‐related activities for Atlanta BeltLine, Inc. as it pertains to parks, trails, transit right‐of‐way, affordable workforce housing and economic development. The Atlanta BeltLine is the most comprehensive revitalization effort ever undertaken in the City of Atlanta and among the largest, most wide-ranging urban redevelopment and mobility projects currently underway in the United States. This sustainable project is providing a network of public parks, multi-use trails and transit by re-using 22-miles of historic railroad corridors circling downtown and connecting 45 neighborhoods directly to each other.

Responsible for land acquisition, planning, design, entitlement and project management for ventures ranging from 10 to 2,000 residential units in both suburban and urban infill markets. Fiscal responsibility for multi-million dollar annual budgets. Lead project negotiator with landowners, federal, state and local authorities, as well as community groups, neighbor associations and adjacent homeowners within each community. Initiate and negotiate permits, including 404, Nationwide, NPDES, Brownfield, Zoning and Preliminary Plat to Land Disturbance. Develop and oversee special projects, including charter schools, asset management for timber holdings and master planned communities, economic feasibility studies and niche development projects. Management of eight employees, as well as multiple consultants and contract firms.

Founded non-profit organization representing the interests of a diverse group of property owners and partners in the 65,000 acre trust known as the Chattahoochee Hill Country. Ensured that founders’ vision for innovative, sustainable development and responsible conservation measures was realized through every step of the business process. Created master plan and shepherded revisions through local zoning ordinances. Responsible for fund raising, land acquisition, research, drafting and financially supporting transfer of development rights program, negotiating land transactions (fee simple and easements), coordinating four county governments and lobbying on local, state and national levels. Managed office and staff of five.

Responsible for creating and overseeing all aspects of comprehensive county-wide long range plan, including open space, land use and zoning. Worked with County Attorney, County Commissions, planning staff, community groups and partners on strategic direction of the County. Worked with the State of Colorado on grants for funding and acquisition of park land, trails and scenic view sheds. Review of proposed development plans, legislative issues and developments of regional impact. Managed partnerships with local land trusts for protection of key natural areas.

The Chattahoochee River Land Protection Campaign was a 180-mile greenway, $200M land acquisition project, with parcels acquired for natural habitat, public parks and water quality protection. Primary duties included land acquisition, planning and asset management. Negotiated and closed on over 10,000 acres along 15 river miles at a cost of over $23M. Served as project lead in creating and implementing conservation plan. Worked with partners, The Trust for Public Land, The National Park Service and Georgia Department of Natural Resources, in the purchase of an additional $75M of river corridor lands. Responsible for community and partner relationships, including public presentations, fundraising, community outreach and facilitation and coordination with local, state and federal governments. Managed staff of five with an annual budget of $300,000.

Provided community planning and industrial prospect support for Georgia communities. Involved in all aspects of economic development, including identifying potential sites, negotiation with landowners and site design. Facilitated development plans and events and prepared fiscal analysis for infrastructure improvements. Managed staff of ten with an annual operating budget of $500,000.Staff Planner, Engineering Division:Planned and managed construction of a 24-mile, 220 kV transmission line through environmentally sensitive areas. Project responsibilities included landowner liaison, agent for permitting and on-site construction supervision, development and implementation of best management practices for construction and maintenance of transmission lines, primarily for wetlands areas. Wrote and received $1M grant to assist with site monitoring. Drafted complex letters of agreement with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and mitigation plans for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Responsible for presentations and negotiations with community organizations. Land Use Planner: Planned and assisted in implementing business parks, industrial parks and mixed-use developments for Georgia communities. Maintained close working relationships with local county commissioners, Department of Community Affairs and Georgia Department of Industry and Trade.

Planned and designed recreational facilities, health care facilities and industrial parks. Responsibilities included site planning, landscape planning, computer-aided drafting, on-site project management and permit coordination.
