To do so, I am daily working with our people at Toronto, Montreal, and Sidney and with clients on Canada, US, and Australia among others. My day to day consists of deploying/maintain ETL tools through object-oriented Python methods to clean/parse/load multi-source structured and unstructured data. I do work also with databases, pulling or running data in (MySQL and PSQL). I am also leading an AI project based on building and maintaining machine-learning predictive models. These topics include programming skills training (mostly Python), data wrangling (Pandas), storytelling (data visualization: Matplotlib, Bokeh, etc), inferential statistics, machine learning and the realization of a original capstone project.The inferential statistics section covers: population-, sample- and sampling-distributions, normal distribution, central limit theorem (CLT), confidence intervals, accuracy vs precision, Hypothesis testing, p-values, decision errors, significance vs confidence level, statistical vs practical significance, comparing 2 means, t-distribution, comparing more than 2 means, Anova test, Bonferroni correction, bootstrapping, inference for categorical variables, chi-square GOF and independent tests, and correlation.The machine learning section includes the supervised and unsupervised learning approaches. The supervised learning techniques involve regression models and classification methods such as Naive Bayes, decision trees, and SVM. I also worked with clustering methods such as K-means. Other techniques such as PCA for data visualization and dimensionality reduction and metrics (precision, recall and F1) have been covered as well.

I successfully accomplished the objectives and challenges proposed for my Ph.D. in Solid State Physics. The results obtained shed light on two key points in the field: (1) a synthetic route to design magnetic dryness sensitive materials with a tunable porous capacity in function of dryness (potential application in gas storage) and (2) the activation temperature control on molecular magnets (potential application on memory storage devices). I used several analytical techniques mostly coming from awarded beam times (from synchrotron and neutron radiation facilities). I published 11 refereed papers in highly-ranked European and American scientific journals. I also gave more than 10 scientific talks and was involved in lecturing Physics to undergraduate students. During the course of my Ph.D. I was awarded 12 months of traveling funding to stay at the Institute Laue-Langevin (Grenoble, France) and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Boston, USA).

I visited the MIT during my Ph.D. The aim of this stay was to dive into specific methods for measuring gas storage capacity and electrical conductivity in molecular materials. I gained experience in chemistry procedures such as working in glove-box and cation exchange (post-synthetic technique). The weekly group meetings enhanced my data visualisation and reporting skills.

Grenoble Area, France

During my Ph.D. I visited several times the Institut Laue-Langevin for 2 long-term stays (more than 2 months) and several weeklong experiments. The ILL is a facility with a nuclear reactor used for neutron research purposes. I analyzed tonnes of data from neutron experiments I performed in this institute. I worked hand by hand with scientists and engineers from the Diffraction team. Great city and nice people!
