Managing a Defence based infrastructure project operating in both the UK and Deployed environments. The role included managing a team of 22 infrastructure, applications, test and support engineers as well as coordinating delivery with subcontractors and suppliers. Produced impact assessments on requests for change, gaining involvement from the delivery teams early in the project life-cycle through workshops to create work break down structures and input to PERT estimation. Coordinated delivery of the multiple change requests with stakeholders, and conducted regular meetings with the team, subcontractors, customer and senior management. Responsible for the delivery of a migration and upgrade from a physical servers to virtual machines and implementing a number of tools including CA Spectrum, HP Asset Manager, and Symantec Alteris to enhance system and Service management.

Employed as deputy PM initially and taking on the Project Management position in June 2007 for a Defence based infrastructure project delivering fixed, transportable and remote access capability in the deployed environment . Involved in the initial discussions with the customer community and NATO to help develop and formulate requirements, and coordinated multiple lines of development to implement the systems. Responsible for assessing changes along with his design authority and producing product descriptions, schedules, impact assessments and cost models. The team consisted of 18 personnel covering Infrastructure, applications integration, testing, Training and ILS elements of the project. The aggressive time frames required many of the changes to be developed in parallel. Proactively managed risks and the customers expectations and took ownership of the overall program schedule liaising with the various MoD agencies to ensure a coordinated delivery into the deployed environment. Responsible for employing a team of engineers to deliver the system into the operational environment. Pulling the team together involved engagement with health and safety, arranging medical inspections and vaccinations, training, supply of individual protective equipment and liaison with HR for contract amendments for the personnel deploying.The project was defined as exemplar and was awarded the Chief of Defence Material Commendation in May 2008

Worked on a short term consultancy assignment to provide best practice recommendations for earned value reporting. The product of this assignment was a WBS structure and procedures to support EV reporting that enabled the project manager to control spend and progress against the contractual baseline. The product of this work was supplied to the project management capability group for use across other projects.

The new to market mobile phone operator ‘Three’ I was employed for use case modeling for the implementation of a CRM system. Initial assignment of two months was extended to 18 months and he was required to protect his Italian customer’s interests while liaising with representatives from different geographic areas with conflicting requirements. Responsible for producing use case models, facilitating workshops and managing a team of system analysis.
