CurrentAt the Plain Dealer Publishing Co. and continuing as a labor relations and employee relations consultant, I have partnered with leaders at every level to work on finding solutions to their problems and needs, and then to implement those changes. This was done not only in good times, but as the newspaper industry began it's downturn. I am able to effectively work and communicate with all employees, from hard-working employees on shop floors up to the President and Publisher. I have over 35 years of experience reviewing and drafting labor contract language and company employment policies, and served as the lead Company trustee on Company-Union Taft-Hartley pension, individual contribution and welfare plans. An important skill that a Labor & HR employee or a consultant needs, is to have the ability to listen. For if you don't understand what a business leader or an employee's concerns are, you won't be able to truly help them reach their goals. I learned long ago that a fresh set of eyes looking at subject matter can provide a new and often refreshing view to those issues, whether it was a new employee walking through the door, or as a new trustee on the board of a local non-profit.
