Soldier with the Black WatchAfter completing a rigorous period of intensive training that required all the skills of a soldier and a strong drive of commitment I was then put straight into an operational unit; the Black Watch. During the 6 years within the Armed Forces, a commitment to operational situations was at the fore front of the experience, having served time in Afghanistan, it was essential to establish working relationships within the community. Developing ways and means of transporting and distributing much needed supplies to the local community, to enable them to eat and drink. As a Lance Corporal I had to manage and lead 8 other soldiers, to enable locals to have the freedom of their own establish area, within the Afghanistan conflict. Ensuring that the community was safe at all times, often under extremely pressured environments and under strict time restrictions.Working within the Black Watch is a very hands on job and the skills learnt during this period will serve me and further careers prospects as well for the future.
