Enterprise Architect
Currently on secondment to HMG. Working across a number of contracts, internal projects, and company culture initiatives for a rapidly growing consultancy company with strong roots in two of my favourite cities - Newcastle and Edinburgh
Artist
I sold my first drawings in my teens
Senior Architect
Joined 1Spatial in May 2018 as a senior architect working with consultants and product teams across a range of industry sectors
Principal Technical Architect
Joined the Soprasteria geospatial architecture practice in August 15. A very successful time building complex CAP websites to support agriculture with a mixed team at DAERA in Stormont, overhauling a complex secure spatial data infrastructure, and defining a corporate GIS strategy. Line manager to four senior designer/developers.N Ireland is a small place but the legislation and policy is every bit as complex as in England, Scotland etc. On my joining SSL the contract was in trouble, although the team were always very impressive engineers. We turned it round. The websites we delivered are way beyond what most other EU countries have even attempted and are really liked by the N Irish farmers and agents who use them - praise indeed.
Solution Architect
Solution architect and subject matter expert on existing and extended new land registration programme work in Northern Ireland, and the future of related spatial data infrastructures. Line managed a dispersed team of six senior professionals.Solution architect on deliveries within the RoS/BT partnership late 2004 to spring 2010, and secured eGif accreditation for the partnership. Official subject matter expert for BTGS solution architecture group on spatial technologies. Previously design lead on the reorganisation of spatial data repositories at Essex County Council, and on several large bids. Prior to that, consultant/designer/implementer of expert mapping tool for Land Registers of Northern Ireland project.
Senior Consultant
Designer/team lead/developer working very closely with sales people as a senior in the professional services group. Worked on a wide variety of projects, in telecommunications (3, Cellnet) and land and property (Land Registers of Northern Ireland), and some utilities work with the water industry and Highways Agency. Frequently represented the company on site in commercial as well as technical discussions and qualified many sales leads. Had to work under heavy pressure and in isolation on many occasions.
Self Employed Consultant
WRC were trying to develop a new commercial proposition based on unifying a GIS and modelling view of operating water networks in a new company called 'Dekho'. Offered a senior role which I declined, to go to MapInfo but very interesting work (with Yorkshire Water in particular).
Senior Developer
Developer/designer on GIS systems - part of the MasterMap team. GIS was not commonly used by OS to monitor and visualise their data production until this period. My main work was on designing and implementing production line monitors using MapInfo/MapBasic to show progress on the small scales cartographic products, and a national system used by chief surveyors to monitor and plan field work and tie it back in to production monitoring in Southampton. I am very proud to have worked at OS.
Gis Consultant
Queen Anne's Gate office - worked as a designer/developer on various crime and policing GIS projects, in particular the Safer Cities initiative in the John Major years, using ESRI, eCensus and MapInfo software. Co-authorship on a couple of papers.

Small and turbulent corporate publishing company which has had a number of subsequent incarnations - I helped launch a UK newstand magazine called 'Sports Quarterly'
Production Manager
Production manager for American Express cardholder titles - Expression - with long print runs and multiple editions
Production Manager / Photo Editor
Various production and photo editing jobs ended up as production manager on main Euromoney title
Print Room
Mornington Crescent NW1This was my first proper job after leaving UCL. I was working in the print room and attempting to break into copy writing at this time.
