I had no choice. Computers and technology were infused into my DNA. I grew up in Murray Hill in the 70s, a small town in NJ that also happened to be the headquarters for Bell Labs. These were the labs responsible for the transistor, and perhaps by no coincidence, the birth of the C language, UNIX and so much more. You see, my father, worked at Bell Labs alongside computer pioneers like Ken, Dennis, and Brian. I learned about computers and programming at an early age, at that time with advanced technologies, like phone couplers modems which could transfer data at a blistering 300 baud speeds! Partnered with this archaic technology was a 30lb thermal printing terminal my father brought home on occasions to work from home. Yet, these were marvels of their times. Soon I had my own UNIX login, “pel”, and a directory of source code for games I would program in C.In my spare time I continued my interest in music. I remodeled my two car garage into a professional grade studio, complete with sound proofing, a drum stage, and separate control booth and talent area. I read and learned not only how to construct rooms and carpentry, but the technical aspects for studio/sound design. Then, I delved deeply into the world of digital recording, riding the personal home recording studio wave of innovation that occurred in the late 90’s.My early career started in Microsoft’s customer support organization, and out of college I was hired to support the newly released Windows 3.1. At Microsoft, I established myself as a leader becoming an expert in network troubleshooting and debugging. I moved into product development, where I design software like Microsoft’s Network Monitor.Now I’m looking for new challenges in software development, where I can apply my programming, creating thinking, and product management skills, after all it is my passion and where I came from.
