I am a senior software engineer and team leader who has been consistently entrusted with high-priority projects during my seven year career at Google/YouTube as both an individual contributor and project leader. In my current role I’m dedicate to the Google Drive team, and at YouTube I contributed to both internal software for YouTube teams and public-facing products including Community and mobile apps. At YouTube my project contributions included:Backstage (aka Community) - This was a high-priority project to help YouTube creators engage with their fans through images, polls, text, etc. I served as a co-founding engineer and tech lead for the product, and my work included leading design, prototyping, and C++ development of the server that encapsulated the product’s application logic. I also led a personalization effort for the YouTube default feed that included the first introduction of non-video content into recommendation systems.During my tenure I oversaw 20 product launches, onboarded eight engineers, hosted two interns, and drove a shift in product development style to a data-driven process and more iterative approach.Comments - This was a new module and rewrite of Comments for the YouTube iOS app. I served as the Tech Lead for both iOS and Android with a four-member team, responsible for feature scoping and roadmaps. Payments & Reporting - This product was a critical revenue tracking tool that applies contractual revenue sharing agreements to incoming payments and issues monthly payments and reports to all partners. It is now used on the new Premium/Red product. My work on included building batch pipelines (MapReduce, Google Flume) and various infrastructure improvements related to reduction of batch job runtimes, new storage systems, and migrating pipelines to reduce contention on Bigtable.
