Vericenter was acquired by SunGard.

Vericenter acquired the Sprint hosting division. Worked with Appsite Hosting (formally known as DellHost) Installed and configured high availability, complex, load balanced environments for managed customers. Installed maintained and configured Windows 2000 servers with IIS 5.0 and Windows 2003 servers with IIS 6.0. Administered networking components to isolate issues related to availability as well as denial of service attacks. Administered backup network with close to 1000 nodes using Legato Networker. Helped plan and migrate backup infrastructure from Legato Networker to Veritas Netbackup. Wrote Perl scripts to help manage backup failure reports. Troubleshot environments consisting of MSSQL servers and application servers such as ColdFusion, ASP, and servers running the .Net framework. Provided training for Datacenter Operations staff including troubleshooting, change management, server build standards, and day-to-day operations. Worked with troubleshooting and updating Cisco PIX firewalls and a Cisco blade firewall for the Appsite environment. Helped to facilitate large scale move of Appsite servers from one area of the datacenter to another. Duties included moving VLANS from one Zone switch to another, updating static routes on the firewall, and actually moving physical servers.

DellHost was acquired by the Sprint hosting division and was subsequently migrated from the Interliant datacenters to a Sprint datacenter in Atlanta. During this time I helped perform a large scale migration of physical servers and supporting infrastructure to the Sprint Datacenter. Helped to implement moving DellHost operations from Interliant to Sprint data center.  Performed migration build out for DellHost custom offering. Diagnosed networking issues related to Cisco Catalyst 6500 switches. Recognized Denial of Service attacks and stopped them before crippling the network. Helped to migrate managed customers’ high availability platforms from Interliant’s Washington D.C. datacenter to Sprint’s Atlanta Data Center.

 Worked with both virtual and dedicated servers. Administered DellHost virtual infrastructure servers that hosted over 30,000 domains. Administered 2000+ DellHost and Interliant dedicated servers running numerous applications. Administered 30+ high-end managed hosting solutions with special applications and security settings. Worked with numerous types of Dell PowerEdge servers and PowerVault external RAID arrays. Provisioned servers using either some type of image, or performed a scratch install bringing all patches/hotfixes up-to-date. Provided analysis to customers with regards to security and troubleshooting issues. Worked with IIS components (4.0. 5.0, and 6.0) including FTP, SMTP, and Web. Used Perl to manipulate the IIS metabase settings and values. Engineered applications with Perl to help administer and perform “off server” disaster recovery for system files, ERD, and IIS metabase. Worked with several different technologies to help streamline administration and server performance. Managed clients remotely using Terminal Services, PCAnywhere, VNC, and NetOps. Used Performance Monitor to identify problems, abusive applications, and server traffic. Provided in depth troubleshooting for ColdFusion servers both related to performance tweaking and code or database errors. Wrote scripts to help facilitate migrating server metabase information due to consolidation or emergency reasons. Provided support to technical support staff as well as the Enterprise Control Center.
