Bachelor’s Thesis | Advisor: Dr. H.S. Vageeshbabu Worked on preliminary screening of TILLING populations for quality improvement in Papaya. Work involved collection of papaya samples for analysis, DNA isolation, PCR, molecular markers designing or primer designing, electrophoresis, marker analysis using different software, phylogenetic analysis.

In rural parts of Karnataka state in India, work focused on analysing the effect of late blight of potato and soft rot of ginger on shifting cropping patterns. A significant shift from potato to maize cultivation and excessive use of pesticides on ginger by farmers was reported by us to the Department of Agriculture, Karnataka state. Farmers were trained for mushroom cultivation and use of bio-fertilizers. Farmers were also educated with field day and exhibitions on various technologies available for agriculture and the forecast system for late blight of potato at the UAS, Bangalore.

Hands on Training | Advisor: Dr. Shashidhara K SWorked on identification of the resistance genes in Finger millet and Rice bean techniques in molecular marker trait and identification and trait transfer. Techniques employed include, Finger millet cultivation, DNA isolation, designing of molecular markers or primers, PCR and maker analysis.
