Managed the English Learner program and all Title III/ESSA related work at five high schools that served over 1,000 current ELs and 1,600 students who have Reclassified in the last four years; the EL Specialist work included the following:Creating and maintaining systems to ensure compliance with state and federal legislation for English Learners-- newcomer/ transfer intake processes, Reclassification, EL/RFEP monitoring, ELPAC testing, Migrant Ed, Dual Identified SPED/EL students, DELAC & ELAC, and overseeing and mentoring Bilingual Assessment Technicians.Facilitating Professional Learning experiences for teachers, administrators, and Bilingual Instructional Assistants for Designated ELD in groups and via 1x1 coaching.Facilitating and Monitoring the Newcomer English Learner Program, which includes designate ELD courses, specialized SIFE electives, cluster ELD content courses, sheltered team-taught math courses, and a Summer Language Academy elective.Facilitating and supporting Professional Learning for Integrated ELD alongside Math, Science, and Literacy Content Specialists.Leading, with Parent Liaisons, Insituto de Lideres, an intensive parent leadership program that teaches parents how to navigate and affect change in school, local, state and federal politics.Overseeing and mentoring EL TOSAs at each site to provide coaching and Professional Learning to teachers of ELs.Leading Subject Area Councils for World Language and ELDCompleting an FPM Review for English Learners.

Using a combination of the Cognitive Coaching and Instructional Coaching models, I collaborated with and supported individual teachers and teacher teams across all content areas to refine their instructional practice through collection and examination of data, reflection, and implementation of best practices. My work spannned across all five district high schools. Working as a team with teachers, Instructional Coaches, and our Director of Curriculum and English Learner Specialist, we co-created and backwards designed curricula for English grades 9-11, 9th grade English Support, Designated ELD levels 1-3, Biology, Chemistry, U.S. History, and World History. Our district curricula are Common Core and NGSS aligned and built upon the tenets of the California Frameworks.I work with our district Education Services team to plan and facilitate site and all-district professional development focusing on curriculum alignment, literacy, student engagement, checks for understanding, assessment, feedback, strategies for struggling and under-challenged students, classroom culture, and content.
