Designed a work plan to collect and handle large volumes of satellite data from the HyspIRI mission flight campaigns in the LA area for use in climate modeling and forecasting studies.Scheduled meetings with the mission leaders and gained access to the flight’s schedules and tracks.Developed an algorithm to retrieve surface physical properties from satellite sensors. These new variables were used to create a new land-cover classification on the region by means of a clustering analysis. The classification was then used as input in an atmospheric model to assess the influence of urbanization and other large-scale factors on predicting present and future temperatures in Southern California. The results were presented in front of a board of scientists with outstanding reviews in presentation skills and knowledge of the material. This work is currently under peer-review for journal publications.
