During my teaching assistant role, I learned to prepare lectures in a laboratory environment, practiced my teaching skills, and learned to motivate students.Course: Materiaalkunde laboratoria (B-KUL-YI1181)(YI6586) (Schakelprogramma Elektromechanica) Students carried out heat treatments on steel (quenching, tempering, and normalizing), measured the mechanical properties of the materials (Hardness - Vickers and Rockwell, Charpy impact, and tensile tests), and observed the steel´s microstructures in a macroscopic (this involved embedding, polishing, and etching). The obtained results were compiled into a report for evaluation. Course: Materiaalkunde laboratoria (YI6586)Students conducted laboratory sessions focused on materials characterization through mechanical testing, encompassing Tensile tests, Vickers and Rockwell hardness tests, and Charpy impact tests. Additionally, students measured the bending stiffness of steel and aluminum, as well as the determination of the tensile properties and the shore hardness of plastics. With this course, students acquired insights into materials selection processes.

The work carried out during my internship in the composites materials group (CMG) was part of an international Benchmark exercise led by the NPL (National Physical Laboratory, UK). The benchmark exercise involved the compressibility measurement (fiber volume fractions/thickness) of two fiberglass textile reinforcements used as reinforcements in fiber-reinforced composite materials (FRC). During this internship, I had the opportunity to apply and improve my knowledge of composite materials, keep up with deadlines and work submissions, and collaborate with highly qualified professionals and researchers.
