During my summer at Oatey, I completed an inventory tracking project and presented solutions to plant managers on opportunities for improvement. As part of this project, I identified savings opportunities and laid groundwork for future continuous improvement projects. I was able to implement 5S solutions on plant floor to maintain cleanliness of facilities and improve worker morale. I also completed a secondary project to integrate all tools into a calibration schedule for ISO compliance.

During the summer of 2018, I returned for a second summer as an engineering intern at Nelson Stud Welding, a Stanley Black & Decker company. In this capacity, I assisted in tensile testing and measuring products to ensure they fell within specifications. I also contributed a new system of organizing machine tooling on the factory floor. I used 2D AutoCAD to draw and modify parts that had not yet been added to Nelson's AutoCAD library. In addition, I was able to gain hands-on experience with machinery for making tooling, including basic lathe and surface grinder skills.

I served as an engineering intern at Nelson Stud Welding, a company that manufactures fasteners for a variety of automotive, industrial and construction applications. In this capacity, I assisted in testing for quality control and in devising a new system of organizing of parts on the factory floor. I also used 2D AutoCAD to draw a model of machinery that would be moved into the factory, as well as Nelson's Business Planning and Control System software (BPCS) to receive orders. I wrote several test reports and assisted in research for new products and methods of welding.
