Married to Heather and we have 2 children Jessica 27 and Alexander 24.After college I joined HM forces (Royal Signals). I served for 4 years mostly in Germany and on leaving started working in the Petrochemicals industry where I have been ever since. I worked on the same site for 40 years, 27 of those years on Ole 6 one of Europe's biggest Naphtha crackers and during that time the company changed hands 3 times. From ICI to Huntsman and lastly to SABIC. After organisational changes at SABIC I took early retirement. The opportunity to work in the Kingdom Of Saudi Arabia in a training role with SIPCHEM was both exciting and yet frustrating. Exciting in the potential the role offered but in the real world not practical for me at that time. Being thousands of miles away from home when there were personal issues to deal with in the UK meant that I had no option but to resign. Really sorry that that was the case as I enjoyed my time there.On returning to UK I was presented with another exciting opportunity to become involved in the conversion of Ole 6 Ethylene cracker from Naphtha to Gas, specifically shale gas from america. Then moved on to SSOW for Butadiene 3 turnaround for SABIC. After a successful delivery I took a few months off before returning to SSOW for the planned 2020 Olefins 6 turnaround. This was cancelled in March 2020. In September 2021 I joined the Wilton Grangemouth Ethylene Pipeline pigging project. This involved working in remote locations setting up permit hubs and building energy isolation procedures for working on live ethylene pipework against single isolations. Working with multiple contractors and trade groups I issued permits for all aspects of the project including excavation and entries.
