Television Engineering

Based in Chicago, Illinois HDTV Transmission Engineer. Worked with industry standard DVB and JPEG 2000 encoding systems interconnected to fiber transport circuits and satellite trucks. Programed Tandberg, Adtec, and Radyne encoder systems to accurately process and route signals to their appropriate destination. Uplink Truck Engineer Operated and maintained various C and Ku Band satellite uplink trucks in PSSI's fleet of uplink vehicles. Maintained transmission logs and paperwork vital to service performance and billing. Acted as PSSI's on-site liaison, producer and/or technical manager as needed for services. Troubleshot, assessed, and repaired mechanical, electrical, and/or electronic issues as they arose. Trained staff on safe, effective use of equipment. Assisted company in logistics planning and routing as needed. Proactive at procuring and retaining clients.Maintenance Engineer: Established a Midwestern based maintenance facility for the company fleet vehicles. Conduct vehicle maintenance, repair, and upgrades as necessary. PSSI Global Servicesis a global provider of satellite transmission and production events. PSSI has over 30 satellite uplink trucks (1 Hawaii based), fly-away uplink systems, and Pittsburgh based teleport. ENG Maintenance and Ku Engineer Assisted in maintenance and repair of ENG cameras, lenses, and news issue tape machines. Performed preventative and emergent maintenance on ENG Van fleet. Ran Ku Satellite truck as requested.

Operated and maintained transportable uplink. Marketed satellite uplink services for outside satellite services, developed and maintained business relationships with clients in the Chicago area and beyond. In addition to in-house uplink needs, uplink and camera crew services were provided for ESPN, Big Shoulders Digital Video Productions, Orbis Productions, Fox News, CNN, MSNBC, local affiliates, Reuters, WTN facilities, and others.in 2000, I transitioned into Studio Operations. Initially acting as a studio technician, I quickly learned studio audio, videotape playback, TD, and technical production management. After the cancellation of the Regional Sports Reports in Chicago, I would manage the studio during client productions and Satellite Media Tours. Clients for the studios included Big Shoulders Digital Video Productions, High Yield Productions, and WPWR/Newsweb.

Operated and maintain Chicago based Satellite News Vehicle. Provide technical support to camera and Chicago news bureau crews. Worked under high pressure as the first line of response and dispatch to event, tragedy, political, and other news events that happened in the Midwest region. Maintained a heavy last minute-travel schedule in accordance with breaking news and political event needs.
