Within this role, I designed, implemented and coordinated health, safety and environment systems, initiatives, strategies and activities across all business operations to improve the HSE culture and reduce the injury statistics during the transition to an underground mine. During this time, I played an integral role in developing and maintaining relationships with the Indigenous community in the East Kimberly region by acting as the main liaison with the Indigenous tribes people to promote company compliance with the Indigenous Land Use Agreement. KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS Drove significant culture change through the transition from surface to underground operations, resulting in an achievement of a 50% reduction in All Incident Frequency Rate (AIFR). This was the outcome of a number of key factors, includingCoordinating a safety diagnostic process for the operations, subsequently using the data to develop a corresponding approach to a change in safety culture Regenerating the HSE team with a focus on compliance as per the licence to operate, as well as renewing relationships with the regulators Developing a Business Resilience Plan to ensure business continuity in the event of a major disaster or accident Within my role as Indigenous liaison, I fostered and maintained strong relationships with the local Indigenous community, resulting in being invited into the Gidga and Mirrawung tribes as a local Indigenous man. This contributed to the tribes building trust with the company, thus allowing for the negotiation of flexible, pragmatic agreements in the best interest of all stakeholders

Upon the potential separation of the diamonds business from Rio Tinto, I was tasked with designing, implementing, promoting and coordinating Aurora Diamond’s HSEC systems, initiatives, strategies and activities across four countries, including India, Zimbabwe, Canada and Australia. During this time, I wrote all HSEC processes for the business and delivered training to minimise the risk of harm to people, property and the environment. KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS Successfully designed and implemented a global HSEC framework across multiple operations, as well as implemented a HSEC forum to maintain consistency and compliance to company systems and standardsDetermined safety leadership capability across the company and provided training and support to further build skills and knowledge, particularly in the developing countries Provided support to the executive team on HSEC issues, including reporting, governance issues and HSEC auditing Designed and implemented a risk-based auditing process to ensure compliance to the HSEC framework

This role saw me work with staff to build a workforce culture in preparation of moving from open-pit mining to underground. During this unstable time for the company, I developed strong strategic relationships with the regulators and reviewed the environmental management system in order to thoroughly align all HSE processes. This also involved setting up a medical centre, and associated systems in place to monitor staff health concerns and ensure a strong workforce. KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS Received two CME awards at the 2011 Safety Awards for my contractor management and commencement of a workforce wellness program Received a Parliamentary Statement from the Minister for Water for my effective water management processes on site Nominated for two Golden Gecko Awards for water management and my implementation of a Biodiversity Action PlanLed the company to achieve full ISO14001 accreditation Reduced AIFR from 0.92 to 0.32 within two years

Subsequent to the refinery being in operation for six months, I came on board to ensure that procedures guaranteeing safe working conditions were followed at all times. This involved forecasting, managing and tracking the refinery safety budget of $25 million, as well as leading, managing and supervising a high performing safety team of 28 personnel. KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS Developed strong strategic relationships with regulators and invited them to monthly site meetings to foster an environment of collaboration and transparency and therefore strengthening operational outcomes Instigated an Ecotoxicology program into the Yarwun Wharf area (Gladstone Harbour) to strategically place the company’s focus on environmental sustainability Introduced a new personal safety program, including HSE essentials for leaders Led the company to achieve full ISO14001 accreditation Reduced AIFR from 1.72 to 0.60 within two years

Within this role, I was accountable for creating, developing and implementing detailed maintenance strategies to maximise plant efficiency and reduce downtime. This involved ensuring a high level of financial control across the forecasted departmental budget, as well as recruiting and managing a team of maintenance employees comprising electrical, mechanical and fabrication sections, including setting and maintaining performance standards. KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS Introduced a change to the maintenance operation rosters and philosophy from time-for-time rostering to a nine-day fortnight, including centralised planning, resulting in cost savings and an increase in staff availability to undertake regular maintenance Contributed to significant improvements in safety performance, which was verified through experiencing only one workplace injury during my three years on site Led the pilot implementation of the lean program for Comalco to ensure full functionality and ongoing maintenance of equipment

Operations Superintendent, Port Headland Division Aug 2003 – Feb 2004 Engineering Superintendent, Port Headland Division Dec 2001 – Aug 2003 Acting Engineer Manager for Dampier, Lake McLeod and Port Headland As Operations Superintendent, I was accountable for the leadership, management and supervision of six direct reports, as well as 100 indirect personnel in the achievement of preventative and scheduled maintenance activities. Within this role, I developed, implemented and evaluated maintenance strategies to maximise plant availability and efficiency. As Engineering Superintendent, I coordinated and directed projects and created plans to accomplish goals and the direct the integration of technical activities within the division. This involved planning and directing the installation, testing, operation, maintenance and repair of fixed and mobile plant equipment. KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS Successfully implemented and inducted all site personnel in line with Rio Tinto HSE standards subsequent to the changeover of company ownership Used initiative to lead mechanical and civil upgrades to the wet salt and shipping infrastructure to ensure that all assets were in optimal condition Managed a project to provide electrical modification to the diesel pumping stations to improve equipment and operational efficiency Modified systems and processes, including putting computerised programmable logic control systems in place
