As a Media Manager I'm responsible for nurturing the reputation of the University in international, national and regional media. I plan proactive promotion of the institution's world leading research in key publications, broadcast outlets and social media and field experts from the University to match research strengths with topical stories in the news. I'm experienced in crisis communications.

As Senior Media Relations Officer I played a key role in communicating the University's many important contributions to the worldwide response to the coronavirus, including vaccine trials, innovative COVID-19 testing, the impact of population movement on global virus spread and infection protection measures.Other high profile media projects I have run are: the official Inquiry into the opinion poll failings of the 2015 General Election; the international Portus Project archaeological dig in Rome; and the 'Global AgeWatch Index', published with HelpAge International. I've enjoyed working with a host of external stakeholders, such as English Heritage, Macmillan Cancer Support, the British School at Rome, the British Museum and the Royal Statistical Society.

I joined ITV Meridian as Deputy News Editor and quickly progressed to role of Planning Editor. I ran the news desk, coordinated reporters and camera operators, worked on special background features and produced major, live outside broadcasts, as well as regularly taking the reins as Producer of Meridian Tonight.

As part of the original team, I helped set up and launch the highly successful regional radio station for the south of England, Wave 105. A key member of the team both off and on-air, I ran the news desk, reported on major stories and was a regular newsreader on the 'drive' and 'breakfast' shows. I presented key regional stories alongside major national and international events, such as the start of the Kosovo War, the death of the Queen Mother and the 9/11 attacks.

I worked as a news desk editor, news presenter and reporter for three high profile commercial radio stations on the south coast of England, operating as part of the Capital Radio Group.
