Peter Love has had a successful grocery retailing and wholesaling career stretching over 30 years. After graduating from University with a Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing), he began his career working in and managing Stores for independent Retailers and Woolworths. This was followed by a stint in Promotions and Buying with Metcash in NSW and then a promotion to the National Shelf Manager role in the Metcash National office. After much success in this role, Peter was head hunted to take on the Client Services Director position at a national Marketing and Merchandising firm. Within four years he was invited back to Metcash to fill the NSW Merchandise Manager position. He then moved his family to WA to play a major role in the Metcash takeover of FAL and then relocated again and spent just over two years as Deputy General Manager and Merchandise Manager for Metcash Queensland. In mid 2010, Peter was promoted to the General Manager position for Metcash Supermarkets Queensland, reporting to the CEO. This role was responsible for managing the biggest individual business unit in business.In May 2012, Peter was promoted to the National Office, as General Manager Sales and Merchandise with accountability for the National Buying, Promotions and Retail Pricing functions. Peter led the program of work and launch of the ongoing IGA Price Match program.Peter’s strong track record across the business and a proven ability to lead change led to a key leadership position in a company wide transformation project and then into the General Manager Retail Operations role.Peter then moved into the Head of Channel - Core IGA position. This role saw him leading the strategy and execution for the core IGA retail group.During this time Peter responded to a CEO request to resolve significant business, team and customer issues in the SA/ NT business and assumed the role of General Manager. Within 14 months the team significantly improved and secured customer relationships and business, improved team culture and engagement and repaired the P&L.The next step was a Head of Customer role which saw Peter successfully lead the negotiation of a new contract with a national brand worth over $800M p.a. Peter has been responsible for rebuilding the relationship and managing this customer ongoing. At the same time, he is leading the business component of a Project to build the biggest warehouse facility in Australia, in Victoria. This is a significant and complex project which is tracking ahead of schedule and budget.
