I stood down as director and moved to a role of Practice Fellow in 2020. From day to day, I continued to have the same leadership role on projects to allow focus more on this work and the clients that I serve through these projects. I will continue to contribute to the knowledge and research of the practice and the mentoring of younger staff.

I combine skills in architecture and urban design to undertake projects at all scales from regions to towns, neighbourhoods, buildings and places. I have worked throughout Australia on new cities, towns, urban precincts and buildings. I have specific expertise in the design of urban centres and TOD's, housing of all types and densities and the built form that supports high quality urbanism.I am known for my commitment and skills in collaborative design process, such as Enquiry-by-Design workshops. Research informs my work with a focus on design processes and methods, settlement and building typology, urban quality, character and place for a subtropical urbanism, and the role that freehand drawing has in the design process. ...and my book DesignThinkingDrawing is now available. School Of Design, Qut

I have been an Adjunct Professor in the School of Design at QUT since 2003 and teach in the Architecture program. Between 2013 until 2016, I was privileged to have been appointed a half-time Professor of Design in the School. I taught a Masters of Architecture design studio that addressed topical and controversial urban scale projects. The focus of the studio is a current and sometimes controversial precinct or development. I want students to understand the issues that effect the city in which they live with presentations with locl community members, council, developers or land owners. These projects attempt to enhance collaborative multidisciplinary design practice and the role that architecture plays in forming urban environments. Students form groups, name their practice, and work together. Master planning is done by the group, then individuals design buildings, and present the work as a precinct.
