An Independent Director who is also an experienced Chief Executive, delivering a high quality service to hard to reach customers, who has also been an Operations Director and Finance Director in complex organisations and has provided independent scrutiny. Excellent communication, motivation and presentation skills. Experience of leading significant IT and change projects, and managing outsourcing contracts from procurement to delivery. Experience relevant across many sectors including media, telecoms, technology, consumer (including health care and public services) and regulated industries.Creating transformation strategiesWhilst creating the complex multi-layered strategy to set-up and run the Switchover Help Scheme I needed to understand how to serve the diverse needs of our customer base within an achievable commercial framework. I was able to communicate the strategy with a simple vision, ensuring the full engagement of the evolving team. Turning strategies into delivery plans and ensuring implementationIn 2007 I started the Switchover Help Scheme from the 30 page Scheme Agreement signed off by Government and the BBC Trust. Within 12 months I had delivered a pilot, built a management team, established the governance framework, procured the primary contractor and started service delivery.Earlier as Director, Financial Operations I had to rescue a struggling project – a shared service centre for finance involving two large outsource partners - and succeeded in delivering on time and to budget, providing a service to thousands of users across multiple sites.Fiduciary governance of large and complex organisationsI managed the Switchover Help Scheme budget of £600m as Chief Executive and was subject to detailed scrutiny at BBC Executive, BBC Trust, National Audit Office, and Public Accounts Committee levels. Earlier I was Finance Director of a £400m p.a. BBC division.

Chief Executive, Switchover Help SchemeBbc 2007 - 2012London, United KingdomThe Switchover Help Scheme was set up by the BBC in 2007, under an agreement with Government, using ring fenced funds of £600m to offer practical help at digital TV switchover to the 7 million UK households most likely to benefit from it – the elderly and disabled. Using multiple delivery partners we helped over 1.3 million people, often handling some 10,000 calls and carrying out 2,000 installations a day. To meet our objective of reaching those most vulnerable we ran an outreach programme, involving thousands of statutory bodies, charities and community organisations. As a high profile social care programme there was a complex governance and stakeholder structure to direct, involving many organisations outside the BBC. It was seen as an outstanding success, delivering an excellent service and high levels of customer satisfaction. The Scheme came in significantly under budget. -

My role was to provide independent scrutiny of the divisional plans and their delivery, ensuring that they were sufficient to meet the financial goals whilst delivering the strategy, encouraging the sharing of best practice and understanding and facilitating the mitigation of the risks involved. -
