Developed Magellan – a real-time, mission critical airline crew scheduling and control solution - a difficult problem involving a large & complex enterprise planning database, which had stumped many development initiatives around the world with much larger budgets and staff (e.g. a team of 100 rather than my team of 20). Worked with multiple stakeholders from vastly different backgrounds and companies to forge a common product vision and roadmap in a very complex problem domain. Magellan became Mercury Scheduling’s flagship product and was installed in airlines around the world.

Lead architect for a real-time satellite mission planning and control system for the Canadian Space Agency’s RADARSAT-1 program to launch the world's first commercial remote sensing synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellite. The technologies spanned spacecraft orbit modeling to large enterprise database management. Chaired a collaborative working group that developed a requirements/design/budget consensus among diverse stakeholders to successfully turn around a project in trouble. Introduced new technology (blackboard architecture), new design methodology (Object Oriented Analysis/Design) and new process (spiral development). Shaved $6M off the cost of a project eventually contracted and executed at $7M. Lead a Canadian government sponsored research project to develop an integrated satellite image analysis and Geographical Information System. Advanced architecture featured object-oriented terrain model and digital stereoscopic measurement toolset.

Held a number of hardware, firmware and software subsytem design positions of increasing responsibility. Lead Architect for the company's next-generation Image Analysis Workstation Product (MPX) featuring innovative use of state-of-the-art, high performance software and hardware. MPX was well ahead of the competition both in terms of hardware as well as software – it featured the world’s first direct-manipulation interface for image processing.
